A Modern Upgrade to a Classic
We are Quzhou Chengji Coating from Zhejiang, China. This product is a modern upgrade to the classic cationic epoxy system. We keep the great rust protection. But we made big improvements for today's high quality needs. We used a new epoxy structure. We optimized the cross-link density. We improved how the pigment is dispersed. More Cross-Links for Better Strength
This product uses a multi-functional epoxy. It replaces some of the standard epoxy. What does multi-functional mean? Each resin molecule has more reactive sites. So they can cross-link more tightly. The network is more dense. The hardener is a modified blocked isocyanate. It opens over a wider temperature range. This gives a "gradient cure." The surface cures first, giving a smooth look. The inner layers cure later, giving a dense structure. During production, we use a laser particle analyzer to control the particle size. It is between 0.1 and 0.3 microns with a narrow spread. This gives great throwing power and bath stability.
Data for a Thinner, Stronger Film
Because of the higher cross-link density, we can get the same rust protection with a thinner film. In the ASTM B117 salt spray test, an 18-20 micron film gives 800-1000 hours with no rust. A traditional product needs 25 microns. This means you use over 20% less paint. In the CASS test (ASTM B368) for aluminum, it also does well. After 120 hours, there is no serious corrosion. One client makes cases for electronics. They used an imported product. It was costly. After switching to our product, they passed all the corrosion tests. Their cost per square meter went down by 25%.

Solving the Edge Problem
Sharp edges are always the weak point. Traditional paint pulls away from edges. The edge film is only 60-70% of the average. Rust starts there. We improved the flow of the paint. We added a special agent. Now the edge film is over 85% of the average. In cycle tests, the corrosion resistance at the edge improved by over 60%. One client makes stamped parts with many sharp edges. They always got complaints about edge rust. With our product, those complaints stopped. We fixed the problem of edge rust at the source.
A Bath That Lasts 18 Months
We optimized this product for bath stability. It is very stable. It resists hydrolysis and bacteria. Under normal production, it can run for over 18 months without being replaced. You just add more paint and adjust parameters. The bath can also handle a small amount of ions from pre-treatment or water changes. One client used to change their bath every 3 months. Each change meant two days of lost production and costly waste treatment. With our product, they change it once every 18 months. They save 10 days of production time a year and thousands in waste treatment costs. This is the economic value of a long bath life.
